When creating a new database, you can select the preferred KeePass format and store the file wherever you like. You decide where it’s stored, whether just locally or using your own cloud storage provider. One of the reasons KeePass became so popular, aside from its open-source codebase, was the amount of control it gave you over your password database. It’s an intuitive, well-designed password manager with quite a few features in store. Strongbox aims to replace KeePassXC on your Mac and allow you to take advantage of the KeePass format on Apple mobile devices as well. For macOS users, one problem has always been synchronizing their password databases on mobile devices, as no official KeePass app is available for iOS or iPadOS.
